With the December holidays just around the coner, I bet many of you are itching for a getaway but are budget conscious because of the economy crisis. A short getaway is the next best option. Visit Amazing Borneo Tours for some holiday ideas.

You can also participate in free activities held at the resort . Try the hunting demos which teaches you to use traditional hunting equipments of the legendary head-hunting tribes in Sabah( head-hunting is no longer allowed, don't worry).
Apart from hotsprings and resorts, you should really indulge in Sabah's seafood( super fresh, yummy and cheap)

Go try spot a monitor lizard at the turtle island ( it's a conservation island off the coast of Sandakan )
The turtle island basically helps endangered sea turtles by providing them with a safe place to lay their eggs. They'll then put them in a hatchery and release the baby turtles after 40 days.
The reason for the need of an hatchery is because predators like eagles and monitor lizards often eat up the eggs before they can hatch. Sea turtles are protected endagered animals, every egg is as precious as a china panda. Yet, Filipinos continue poaching these turtles and selling their eggs openly. In Singapore, we often see shops selling turtle soup.... which further endagers these animals.
Luckily for the turtle island, you can observe the turtles laying eggs and then release a baby turtle back to the sea. There's also Sipadan island for diving fanatics ( it's voted 1 of the New Seven Wonders Of the World!)
Notice the shaded and unshaded areas o the hatchery? The gender of these turtles are actually determined by the temperature of the hatchery! The shaded areas would hatch like 80 percent male or something like that.
